The Misericordia University men's volleyball team swept Widener, 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-18), Wednesday night.
Jared Piontkowski led the Cougars with 13 kills, four aces and six blocks while
Anthony DePalma added eight kills.
Zane Martin had five kills, two aces and six blocks and
Benjamin Clendening had four blocks.
Piontkowski had two kills and
Gannon DeFrain had two aces as the Cougars jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the opening set and never looked back.
Piontkowski had a kill and an ace to break a 14-14 tie in the second set and Martin had two kills in a 4-1 run to give the Cougars a 20-16 lead.
The Cougars took advantage of five straight Widener errors to put together a 7-0 run and take an 11-4 lead in the finale.
MU closed the match with a 5-2 run, including two kills from
Kyle Ganoe.
