The Misericordia University baseball team advanced to the championship game of the NCAA Regional Tournament with a 7-4 win over Keystone, Sunday at Tambur Field.
Brock Bollinger had three hits and three RBI and
Matt Lanzendorfer worked four innings to pick up the win as the Cougars improved to 17-0 at Tambur Field.
Jared Hoffman and
Jason Sanfilippo had two hits each and drove in a run while Connor McIlhenney scored twice.
Maryniak struck out six over five innings, but didn't factor in the decision.
The Cougars put their first two runners on in the top of the first, but left them stranded.   MU's
Owen Cordner made a diving stop up the middle for the first out in the bottom the first, but the Giants took a 1-0 lead on a sacrifice fly.
Misericordia tied it in the top of the third. With one out, Bollinger hit a first-pitch double off the wall in left center and came around on
Connor Maryniak's line drive to left field.
Keystone answered with a run in the bottom of the third without hitting a ball out of the infield to go back in front, 2-1.
The Cougars pulled even in the top of the fifth.Â
Garrett McIlhenney was hit by pitch to start the inning and moved up on a sac before coming around to score when Bollinger rolled a double inside the third base bag. Â Keystone strung together three two-out hits to regain the lead, 3-2.
Misericordia batted around to put together the game-winning rally in the seventh.
Owen Cordner drew a lead-off and McIlhenney reached via HBP. One out later, Bollinger lined a single to center to give the Cougars their first lead, 4-3. Maryniak was hit by pitch and a double steal put runners at second and third.Â
Jared Hoffman lined a single off the pitcher's leg that rolled in to left field to plate two runs and give MU a 6-3 lead. Hoffman raced around to score on
Jason Sanfilippo's two-out double to left center.
