The #5 Misericordia University women's soccer team remained undefeated with a 1-0 win over Montclair, Wednesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Alyssa Steenback scored the only goal of the game at 38:16 and
Lauren Mondor made four saves to earn her six straight shutout.

The Cougars played a ball over the top from their defensive third that bounced into the Montclair box.

With Steenback applying pressure, a Red Hawks defender collided with her keeper. Steenback won possession and slotted a shot past a defender into the right corner for a 1-0 lead.

Emma Sweitzer nearly gave the Cougars a 2-0 lead less than two minutes later.She gathered a loose ball near top of the box, beat a defender for a tough-angle shot from the left flank that was tipped just over the bar.

MU dodged a pair of bullets when the Red Hawks hit the crossbar twice in an eight-minute span early in the second half.

Olivia Maniskas and Sweitzer both had chances to give the Cougars an insurance goal midway through the second half.

Maniskas fired a shot toward the upper right corner that took a leaping save to deny at 64:23.

Sweitzer generated another chance from the left side of the box, but her attempt was just wide of the left post at 66:37.
