MU Women's Soccer Battles to Draw at Scranton

The nationally-ranked Misericordia University women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw at regionally-ranked Scranton, Wednesday.

Lauren Mondor made two saves in goal for the Cougars.

Julia Beck led the Cougars with three shots, including one of MU's four shots on goal.

All four of Misericordia's shots on goal came in the final 30 minutes of the game.

Mondor easily handled her only save of the second half at 57:01 and the MU defense held Scranton without a shot on goal the rest of the way.

Emma Sweitzer had the best scoring chance of the game when she outran a defender into the box and fired a tough-angle shot from the six-yard line that required a sliding kick save at the left post.

Esa Mendola gave MU another chance when she won a loose ball just two minutes later.  She fired a shot from 25 yards out that was deflected wide of the left post.

Sabrina Competiello chipped a shot on goal from the right flank, but the Scranton keeper was in position for the save at 73:41.

MU's last threat came when Beck touched a ball past a defender and ripped a shot from the top left corner of the box that was handled near the left post by the Royals keeper.
