Celeste Hoffman scored her first career goal midway through the second overtime to lift the Misericordia University field hockey team to a 2-1 win over Keystone, Friday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
Lily Metress added a goal and
Madison Blauch had an assist as the Cougars improved to 2-1.
Hoffman took a pass down the left sideline, beat a defender and dribbled into the circle where her blast from 10 yards out went off the goalie's right foot for the game-winner.
After more than three quarters of scoreless action, Metress gave the Cougars the lead early in the fourth quarter. Off a penalty corner, Metress gathered a loose ball in traffic and fired a shot past a Keystone defender inside the right post from three yards out at 48:23.
Keystone answered with its only goal of the game with less than two minutes to play in regulation.
Metress had a penalty stroke midway through the first extra session, but was denied on an excellent save by the Keystone goalie on the left post.
