The Misericordia University men's basketball dropped a tough 64-62 decision on a buzzer-beater at Stevens, Tuesday.
Matt Prociak led the Cougars with 21 points and 11 rebounds and
Kevin Lazdowsky and
Jack Gallagher added 16 and 13 points, respectively.
Down 61-56 with 3:49 to play, the Cougars got four free throws and a layup by R.J. Wiese to tie the score, 62-62, with 1:31 to play.
Stevens went the length of the floor and sank the game-winning jumper as time expired.
The Cougars led throughout much of the first half before heading to intermission tied 28-28.
Prociak had a jumper and layup to give MU its biggest lead of the game, 13-5, with 11:42 left in the first half.
Lazdowsky's three-point play gave the Cougars with 1:55 remaining, but the Ducks scored the last six points of the half to pull even.
Gallagher opened the second half with a three-pointer and Lazdowsky followed with a pair of free throws. Prociak's layup capped a 7-0 run and gave MU a 37-30 lead less than three minutes into the second half.
The Cougars maintained the lead until the 11:35 mark and the teams traded baskets the rest of the way.
