Immaculata used a big third quarter to defeat the Misericordia University women's basketball team, 73-59, Thursday afternoon.
Jocelyn Grosch had 21 points and eight rebounds to lead three Cougars in double figures.Â
Ava Cirigliano added 11 points and nine rebounds and
Emily Romanowski added 10 points and
Samantha Casey had eight rebounds.
The Cougars trailed 29-27 at halftime, but the Mighty Macs opened the second half with 12 straight points to take a 41-29 lead just over two minutes in the third quarter.
The teams traded the lead throughout the first half.
Morgan Janeski and Cirigliano sandwiched three pointers around a layup by Romanowski to give MU an 11-6 lead with 4:48 to play in the first quarter.
Caitlin Sweeney added a three-pointer to put the Cougars up, 16-12, with less than a minute to go in the first period. The Mighty Macs made two free throws to get within 16-14.
Romanowski opened the second period with a layup to give the Cougars an 18-14 lead.
The teams traded baskets over the next five minutes and Janeski's layup put the Cougars ahead for the final time, 25-24, with 2:30 left before halftime.
