Despite placing five players scoring in double figures, the Misericordia University men's basketball team fell to Arcadia, 89-76, Wednesday night in the Anderson Center.
Kevin Lazdowsky had a team-high 22 points and R.J. Weise add 17 points.Â
Matt Prociak and
Eli Stoute scored 13 points each and
Jack Gallagher added 11 points. Weise and Gallagher had a team-high five rebounds.
The Cougars raced out to a 13-point lead midway through the first half led through the midway point of the second half.
Arvel Chandler opened the game with a three-pointer from the left corner and Prociak's tip-in gave MU a 5-0 lead.
Weise found Prociak on the left block for a drop-step layup and Lazdowsky made a floater in the lane to give MU a 15-4 lead with 13:26 left in the first half.
Eli Stoute made two free throws and Gallagher's lay-in made it 28-15 with 9:03 to go.
Arcadia whittled the Cougars' lead to 40-38 with 1:09 to go and Lazdowsky ended the half with a pair of free throws for a 42-38 halftime lead.
Weise made jumper in the lane and drilled a three-pointer to give the Cougars a 47-41 lead just three minutes into the second half.
Lazdowsky drove the left baseline to make it 49-45 with 15:03 to go.
Arcadia scored six straight points to take its first lead, 51-49, with 11:41 left.
The teams traded the lead four times over the next four minutes. Gallagher made two free throws to give the Cougars the lead for the last time, 61-60, with 7:48 to go.
The Knights responded with a 13-2 run over the next five minutes to take the lead for good.
