The #17 nationally-ranked Misericordia University women's soccer team defeated Arcadia, 4-0, to remain unbeaten in the MAC Freedom and clinch a spot in the MAC Freedom Tournament.
The Cougars got goals from four different players, with all of them coming in the second half.
Ella Cipriani scored the first goal with an assist from
Caelan Gallagher.
The Cougars doubled their lead on a shot by
Lily Heistand, which was assisted by
Olivia Maniskas.
The third goal was scored by
Esabella Mendola with Heistand getting the assist.
Lastly, Maniskas scored a goal of her own shortly before the game ended.
The first half saw few opportunities for either team.
Still, Misericordia had a few chances.
Maniskas got the first shot for the Cougars from the right side of the box, but it was saved at 35:44.
The Cougars got two more chances before the half ended. Â
Haleigh Wintersteen's shot from 30 yards out was saved.
Maniskas dragged a shot on the ground, but it was also saved in the final minute of the half.
Misericordia wasted no time breaking through in the second half.
Gallagher found Cipriani ahead of her and Cipriani smoked the ball into the bottom left corner of the net to give the Cougars the 1-0 lead in the opening minute of the second half.
The Cougars added three goals in the final 20 minutes.
Misericordia doubled its lead at 78:51, when Maniskas back-heeled a pass back to Heistand, who launched a ball into the side netting.
Just over a minute later, Heistand crossed a ball into the box where it was headed over the goalkeeper by Mendola.
Maniskas got on the board herself as she dribbled around a defender and shot the ball across her body into the right side of the net to create the final score of 4-0.
