#16 Women's Soccer Cruises Past Del Val

The #16 nationally ranked Misericordia University women's soccer team saw victory against Delaware Valley, 9-0, Wednesday night.

The Cougars saw goals from eight different players, Olivia Maniskas, Lily Heistand, Larissa Evans, Alyssa Steenback, Caelen Gallagher, Paige Adams, Julia Hayward, and Brooke Hill.

Lauren Mondor and Madison Miller split time in the net, with Mondor earning a save, and Miller racking up two of them as the Cougars clinched the top seed in next week's MAC Freedom Tournament.

Misericordia got the scoring started early, as at 5:51, Olivia Maniskas received the ball off a deflection from the goalkeeper, and put it in the net to give the Cougars an early 1-0 lead.

Misericordia then punched on the gas and never let go, scoring four more goals in the span of less than five minutes.

First, Heistand received the ball at 9:55 from Samantha Bardonner, with no one in front of her, and put it past the keeper.

Next, at 10:49, Evans dribbled the ball across the box, and floated the ball into the top right corner of the net to give the Cougars three.

Steenback made it four at 14:13, with Gallagher passing her the ball, where she then belted a shot past the diving keeper.

Lastly, at 16:11, Gallagher added on of her own, with Haleigh Wintersteen passing a beautiful through ball to Gallagher, who poked it into the net to end the scoring barrage at 5-0.

Shortly before the first half ended, at 44:26, Hayward found Adams in the middle of the box, who shot it into the net, to create a 6-0 advantage at the half.

Misericordia and Delaware Valley kept each other scoreless for much of the second half, until 83:00, where Madeline Davies's cross bounced off the keeper, and Hayward was there to score the seventh goal of the night for Misericordia.

Brooke Hill scored the eighth and ninth goals of the night for Misericordia, the first coming from a Abigail Shull assist, where the shot was lashed off the top of the net. The second came from Hill dribbling it down the field and around the goalkeeper, and at the end of the game, Misericordia beat Delaware Valley 9-0.
