Box Score The Misericordia University women's volleyball clinched the top seed in the MAC Freedom Tournament with a 3-1 win at DeSales, Tuesday.
The Cougars took the first two sets by identical 25-18 scores, but dropped the third set, 25-23. MU bounced back to take the fourth set, 26-24, to improve to 18-8 overall and 6-0 in the MAC Freedom.
Keira McCaffrey had a team-high 14 kills and
Cassandra Genduso added 12 while
Jennifer Nicometo had 11.
McCaffrey hit (.591) on the night with just one error in 22 attempts.
Jenna Schuda had 39 assists and five aces while
Sarah Journey had 10 digs and three aces.
Down 8-6 in the opener, Nicometo had two kills as the Cougars took their first lead of the set, 13-8, thanks to a 7-0 run.

Madison Tullo had consecutive kills as the Cougars broke a 13-13 tie in the second set.Â
Nicometo's kill and three straight DeSales errors gave the Cougars a 23-16 lead and McCaffrey had a pair of kills to close out the set.
Nicometo had back-to-back kills to cap a 6-0 run to give MU a 17-16 lead in the third set. The Bulldogs rallied and scored three of the last four points to win 25-23.
MU jumped out to an 8-2 lead thanks to two kills by Peters in a 5-0 run, but the Bulldogs chipped away and scored four straight points to pull even, 24-24.
Genduso put the Cougars back in front with a kill and Nicometo and McCaffrey clinched the win with a block.
