The Misericordia University field hockey team scored a pair of late goals on the way to a 3-1 win at Marywood, Tuesday night.
Ashleigh Steele,
Celeste Hoffman and
Madison Lasinski all scored for the Cougars.
Steele gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead early in the second quarter.
Abigail O'Donnell's shot from the right wing was saved, but Steele collected the rebound, dribbled around a defender and tapped a shot inside the left post 3:25 into the second quarter.
Marywood pulled even late in the third quarter and the contest appeared headed to overtime until the Cougars scored twice in the final 3:03.
Hoffman took a pass from
Ava Cirigliano, dribbled in front from the right wing, spun and lifted a reverse-stick shot inside the left post to put the Cougars back in front with 3:03 to play.
Just under two minutes later, Hoffman's shot in front was pushed wide by a Marywood defender, but Lasinski was there to bury the rebound inside the left post with just 1:09 remaining.
Sarah Bogina made three saves in goal as the Cougars won their fifth straight game to improve to 9-2.
