The Misericordia University hockey team opened the season with a 5-1 loss to nationally-ranked Trine, Saturday evening in Canton, NY.
Samuel Libetti scored for the Cougars with assists from
Jaron Ketterman and Corbin Scheibel.
After nearly 40 minutes of scoreless hockey, the Thunder broke through with less than a minute remaining in the second period.
Trine scored twice in less than a minute early in the third period to make it 3-0.
Libetti answered just 17 seconds later to get within 3-1.
Trine scored just over two minutes later and tacked on a fifth goal midway through the third period.
The Cougars will face Canton, Sunday at 1:00.
