The Misericordia University hockey team closed out the first semester with a 5-3 win at King's to pick up its first win of the season.

Jack Tos scored twice and
Patrick Toomey and
Ryan Karbach both had a goal and two assists to lead the Cougars.
Brendan Vettraino added a goal for MU and
Ayden Pierce made 22 saves in net.

Tied 3-3 early in the third period, Tos gathered the puck at center ice, skated in and beat the Monarchs' goalie to the stick side to give MU a 4-3 lead at 14:03.

Pierce made 12 saves in the third period to protect the lead and Tos added an empty net goal in the final minute.

Karbach took a pass from Toomey off the right boards and fired a slapshot from just inside the blue line to beat the goalie inside the right post to give MU a 1-0 lead at 7:28.

The Monarchs tied it with a short-handed goal with one second left in the first period.

Toomey and Karbach switched roles as Toomey stuffed in a rebound for a power play goal to put MU back in front, 2-1, in the opening minute of the second period.

King's tied it two minutes later and went in front on a power play goal just over a minute later.

The Cougars pulled even at 13:36 when Toomey centered a pass from the left face-off dot and Vettraino buried it inside the right post.

Pierce made six saves over the final seven minutes and Tos added the empty-net goal to seal the win.
