The Misericordia University women's basketball team returned to action with a 76-48 win at St. Elizabeth, Tuesday afternoon.
The Cougars used a 31-4 fourth quarter, including a 10-0 run over the final 3:46, to secure the win.
Emily Romanowski had 20 points, six rebounds and seven steals to lead the Cougars and
Caitlin Landgraf added 16 points and nine rebounds.
Lizzy Mitchell had 12 points and seven assists and
Ava Cirigliano had 10 points and eight rebounds.
Leading 45-44 after three periods, Romanowski opened the fourth quarter with a three-pointer and Landgraf added a pair of layups to give MU a 53-44 lead with 7:23 to go.
After a St. Elizabeth bucket, Romanowski scored five straight points to cap a 13-0 spurt to give the Cougars a 66-46 lead with 4:08 to go.
Cirigliano and Hunt combined for 10 points over the final 3:46.
Cirigliano and Romanowski had back-to-back layups in the final minute of the first period as the Cougars took a 14-13 lead after 10 minutes.
St. Elizabeth took a 25-16 lead midway through the second quarter, but the Cougars scored 11 straight points to take a 27-25 lad with 1:47 to go before halftime.
St. Elizabeth scored four straight points to take 29-27 lead into halftime.
Mitchell opened the third quarter with a three-pointer to put the Cougars in front for good, 30-29.
