The Misericordia University women's basketball team dropped their Saturday afternoon MAC Freedom contest to Stevens, 65-45, at the Anderson Center.

Emily Romanowski led the Cougars with 16 points, seven rebounds and four steals while shooting 7-9 from the field.

Jocelyn Grosch hit a pair of three-pointers and brought down five boards, finishing with 10 points.

After Stevens jumped out to a 7-0 lead,
Morgan Janeski put Misericordia on the board with a layup in the paint.

Romanowski drew a foul with just under five and a half minutes remaining in the first frame and hit both of her free throws to bring MU within four points of a tied game.

Grosch made a steal on the defensive end of the floor and took the ball up the court, finishing in the paint that kept Misericordia within two possessions of the Ducks.

Down 17-7 after one period, Romanowski opened the scoring in the second quarter with a jumper after Grosch hauled in a defensive rebound.

Ava Cirigliano threaded a pass to Janeski, who took the ball to the rim and finished the play with a layup to bring Stevens' lead back down to 10.

Grosch cashed in on the Cougars' first three-pointer of the night at 5:31 to make it a 23-14 contest in favor of the Ducks. Two minutes later, she drew a foul and hit both shots from the stripe.

MU went on a 7-0 run with under two minutes to go behind two layups from Romanowski and another three from Grosch. The streak cut into Stevens' lead, which now stood at four points.

Casey Heyman drilled a deep ball from the wing with two seconds left in the quarter, sending Misericordia off the court down by only three points. The Ducks led 29-26 heading into halftime.Â

Romanowski continued her strong offensive performance in the third quarter, getting a bucket in the paint to open the second half scoring for MU. On the ensuing Stevens possession,
Chloe Captoni stole the ball and scored on a layup with an assist from Janeski. Misericordia trailed by only one point, 31-30.

Both teams traded points through the remainder of the third quarter as Stevens ultimately took a 50-37 lead into the final 10 minutes.

The Ducks opened the fourth quarter with a 7-0 run as their lead ballooned to 20 points.

Cirigliano stopped the bleeding with a layup, which was followed by a Grosch steal and another layup from Romanowski.

With two minutes remaining on the game clock,
Jordan Carmosino brought down a rebound on a missed Misericordia three-pointer and finished in the paint for the final points of the game.Â
