The Misericordia University softball team split a doubleheader with Arcadia in its MAC Freedom opener, Saturday at Anderson Field.

The Cougars took the opener, 10-1, in five innings, but dropped the nightcap, 4-1.

Emily Susanj drove in four runs in the opener and
Bridget Doherty had two hits.

The Cougars scored six runs in the second d added four runs in the third.
Marisa Kelly struck out six over five innings to earn the win.

Elizabeth Kelly had MU's lone hit in the second game.

In game one, the Cougars loaded the bases in the bottom of the second on two hit by pitches and a walk before Susanj cleared the bases with a double.

Kaitlyn Slusser followed with an RBI-single and
Rylie Nasso drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.Â
Gianna Russo doubled in a run to make it 6-0.

Gianna Foreman, Kate Tinio,
Casey Funesti and Susanj all singled to open the fourth inning to give MU a 7-0 lead.

The Cougars added three more runs in the frame on an error, a wild pitch and a passed ball to make it 10-0.
