The Misericordia University baseball team won its fifth straight game with a 9-3 win over Mass. Maritime, Sunday in Fort Pierce, FL.
Brian Korchok hit a first-inning grand slam and
Jack Regenye and
Brock Bollinger combined for five hits and six runs scored.
Luke Leventhall worked five innings to earn the win.
Bollinger had three hits and scored three runs and Regenye had two hits and scored three times.
Owen Daminger and Regenye drew back-to-back walks in the bottom of the first inning and Bollinger singled to load the bases. Korchok homered to give MU a 4-0 lead.
Regenye doubled to start the third inning and Bollinger walked and both later scored to make it 6-2.
Bollinger singled to lead off the fifth and later scored on a wild pitch.
Regenye singled with two outs in the sixth and came all the way around on Bollinger's double to put MU up 8-2.
Evan Wittig,
Zak Lussier and
Dante Viola combined to throw four innings of relief without allowing an earned run.
The Cougars will face Elizabethtown. Monday at 10:00 a.m.
