The Misericordia University softball team swept a doubleheader at Albright, 7-6, 16-5, to extend its winning streak to six, Monday.

Bridget Doherty and
Sierra Miller both had two hits to lead MU in the opener.

Sienna Lawson worked four innings to earn the win and
Gabby Cruz picked up a three-inning save.
Â
In game two, Doherty had four hits, including an inside-the-park homer to pace a 20-hit attack.

Mackenzie Fizer had three hits and two RBI and
Sierra Miller hit a three-run homer.
Â
Marissa Kelly worked four innings and didn't allow an earned run to get the win.

The Cougars used two big innings to win the opener.

Doherty singled with the bases loaded in the top of the second to drive in a run and misplay in the outfield cleared the bases to give MU a 3-0 lead.Â
Rylie Nasso followed with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0.

After Albright tied it, the Cougars scored three runs in the fifth.Â

Fizer doubled to open the frame and scored the go-ahead run on
Casey Funesti's single up the middle.Â
Gianna Foreman doubled in a run and pinch-runner
Savannah Richards made it 7-4 on Miller's single.

Albright got within a run in the bottom of the seventh, but Cruz got a strikeout to end the game.

The Cougars took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first of game two on RBI-singles by Funesti and Fizer.

After going down in order in the second inning, the Cougars put up crooked numbers in the final five innings.

Doherty's homer led off the third and Foreman doubled in a run to give the Cougars a 5-0 lead.

Kiersten Tinio singled in two runs in the fourth and
Kaitlyn Slusser doubled in two runs in the fifth to make it 9-2.

Cruz singled in a run and scored on a wild pitch in the sixth and Miller capped a five-run seventh with a three-run homer to center.
