The Misericordia University softball team split a doubleheader at DeSales, Saturday.
The Cougars dropped the opener, 9-1, in six innings, but rebounded two win game two, 8-0, in five innings.
Gianna Russo and
Mackenzie Fizer had two hits in the opener.
Casey Funesti hit a three-run homer in the nightcap and
Gianna Foreman added a two-run blast.
Gabby Cruz struck out five and allowed just five hits in the shutout win.
The Cougars scored six runs in the top of the first in game two and added a pair of runs on Foreman's homer in the fourth.
Bridget Doherty was hit by pitch to start the second game and
Rylie Nasso walked. Russo singled to left to give the Cougars the lead and Fizer doubled to left center to make it 2-0. Funesti's opposite-field homer made it 5-0.
Kaitlin Slusser walked and came all the way around on
Emily Susanj's single to right center to give MU a 6-0 lead.
In the fourth, Nasso singled to center and scored on Foreman's two-out homer to center.
Misericordia will host Wilkes, Sunday at 1:00.
