The Misericordia University Rocket League team defeated Southern Arkansas University, 3-2, in the first round of the NECC Eastern Conference Playoffs.
 
Chris Dindino and Kareem Jefferson scored as the Cougars took the opener, 2-1.
 
Southern Arkansas took the next two games, 5-2, 2-1 to put MU on the brink of elimination.
 
The Cougars stayed alive thanks to Brady Carmody's game-winning goal in overtime to force a decisive game five.
 
Carmody scored the only goal of the game to give the Cougars a 1-0 win to clinch the win.
 
Dindino had five goals, four assists and 10 saves while Carmody had three goals, one assist and seven saves.
 
Jefferson had one goal, one assist and nine saves.
 
MU will play Union College in the NECC Eastern Conference semifinals, Thursday at 8:00.
