Baseball Completes Sweep of King's

The Misericordia University baseball team took both ends of a doubleheader from King's, Thursday at Tambur Field to complete the series sweep of the Monarchs.

The Cougars won, 11-0, 7-3, to extend their win streak to six.

Max Oliver and Alex Polombo combined for eight strikeouts in a two-hit shutout in the opener.

Jake McDonough, Owen Daminger and Drew Van Horn all drove in two runs for the Cougars.

Owen Daminger went five innings to earn the win in game two and Luke Leventhall worked four scoreless innings of relief to pick up a save.

Joe Peters had a bases-loaded double in the bottom of the first inning.

Brock Bollinger doubled to start a two-out rally in the bottom of the first of game one and later scored on a wild pitch.  Owen Daminger singled down the rightfield line to drive in two runs and give the Cougars a 3-0 lead.

MU added three more runs in the third on RBI-singles from Owen Cordner, Van Horn and Brooks Kanwisher.

McDonough had a two-run single as the Cougars put the game away with four runs in the bottom of the fifth.

King's took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first in game two, but the Cougars got all the runs they would need with more two-out damage in the bottom half.

Bollinger drew a two-out walk and Brian Korchok singled and McDonough was hit by a pitch to load the bases.  Bollinger scored on an infield error and Cordner drew a bases-loaded walk to give MU a 2-1 lead.  Peters cleared the bases with a double to right center to make it 5-1.

Bollinger drove in a run with a sac fly in the second and Kanwisher singled in a run in the fourth.
