Baseball Splits at Lebanon Valley

The Misericordia University baseball team split doubleheader at Lebanon Valley, Saturday.

The Cougars took the opener, 2-1, but dropped the nightcap, 1-0.

Bryan Henry struck out 10 to earn the complete-game win in the opener.

Brooks Kanwisher had two hits and an RBI and Jeff Policarpio drove in a run.

Brock Bollinger and Jake McDonough had two hits each in the nightcap

In the opener, the Cougars scored in each of the first two innings and Henry made it stand up.

Jack Regenye led off the game with an opposite-field triple down the right field line and came home on Kanwisher's infield single.

Drew VanHorn led off the second inning with a single to center and moved up on a sacrifice bunt.  Policarpio singled down the left field line to make it 2-0.

Lebanon Valley scored its only run on a solo homer in the fourth, but Henry didn't allow a runner past first the rest of the way.

In game two, the Cougars left the bases loaded in the top of the first inning and the Dutchmen scored the only run of the game without the benefit of a hit in the bottom of the frame.

LVC took advantage of two walks and a HBP and a sacrifice fly to take a 1-0 lead.

The Cougars advanced the potential tying run to third base twice in the last three innings, but were unable move him the last 90 feet.

John Schmidt and Owen Daminger combined on a three-hitter in the tough loss.
