The #7 Misericordia University women's soccer team remained unbeaten with a 4-1 win at Mary-Hardin Baylor, Friday night in Belton, TX.
Alyssa Steenback scored a pair of goals and
Lily Heistand had a goal and an assist as the Cougars improved to 5-0.
Kim Rudy added the first goal of her collegiate career.
Lauren Mondor had six saves in 85 minutes in goal for MU.
The Cougars scored three goals in the first 12:10 and never looked in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
Samantha Bardonner's low shot from the top of the box was deflected by a defender and Steenback chipped a shot across the box into the right side netting to give MU a 1-0 lead at 4:09.
Two minutes later, Rudy dribbled down the right side, beat a defender and a feathered a tough-angle shot inside the right post to make it 2-0 at 6:09.
Larissa Evans won a ball at midfield and threaded a pass through the defense to Heistand who slotted a ball past the charging MHB keeper inside the right post to extend MU's advantage to 3-0 at 12:10.
Misericordia closed its scoring in the opening minute of the second half.Â
Esabella Mendola stripped a defender and sent a pass to Heistand on the left edge of the box. Heistand's one-touch pass to the front of the goal was knocked inside the left post by Steenback at 45:43.
The Cougars allowed their first goal of the season at 79:42 for the final margin.
MU will face Texas Lutheran, Sunday at 11:00 am in Belton, TX.
