The Misericordia University women's volleyball team dropped 3-0 decision at Cortland in a non-conference match, Friday evening.
Keira McCaffrey had six kills and four blocks to lead the Cougars while
Sarah Steeber had five kills and an ace.
Jenna Schuda had 14 assists and
Maggie Duda had nine digs.
Madison Tullo and
Cassandra Genduso had three blocks each.
Genduso's kill and a Red Dragon error got MU within 10-9 in the opening set, but Cortland's 9-1 run widened the gap to 19-10.
Steeber and McCaffrey followed with kills, but the Red Dragons finished on a 5-1 spurt to win 25-14.
After falling behind early in the second set, Steeber's ace and a kill from Schuda capped a 4-0 MU run to get within 13-12.
Cortland took a 22-18 lead, but blocks by Schuda/McCaffrey and Tullo/Peters cut the margin to 24-21, but Cortland clinched the set on the next point.
The Red Dragons used a 10-3 run in the middle of the third set on the way to a 25-15 win.
Misericordia returns to MAC Freedom action at Delaware Valley, Tuesday.
