The Misericordia University men's soccer team dominated Gwynedd Mercy in a convincing 6-1 win Saturday afternoon in their home opener at Mangelsdorf Field.

Senior day festivities took place before kickoff in honor of
Patrick Sipera,
Corbin Lankford,
Nicholas Passaniti,
Jaden Haig and
Max Jamieson.

Dylan Kostik led the way with his first two collegiate goals and tacked on his first assist to
Brody Eisenhart for his first career goal.
Joshua Majekodunmi,
Spencer Pisani and
Shane Macko chipped in a goal. Passaniti had two assists while Pisani and Macko also tallied an assist.

Anthony Numssen created the first two scoring opportunities with back-to-back shots that were saved low right at 6:29.
Noah Romig followed it up with a shot to the center off a through ball at 7:19, but Gwynedd Mercy's goalkeeper dove to the left to get the save.
Nelson Oo took his chance with a shot to the right, but it was stoned as well.

MU knocked in their first goal off a Numssen cross to Macko at 16:32.

Sipera attempted a shot from just inside the box at 22:47, but the keeper stopped it.
Reese Dieffenderfer's shot at 26:02 went high.

The Cougars buried their next goal at 26:02. Off a free kick, the goalie deflected the ball out to Passanti. He found Majekodunmi, who hit the shot to the bottom right of the net.

Kostik scored his first goal with a shot to the bottom left at 41:44. Just a little over a minute later, he found Eisenhart on a breakaway, who would then find the bottom right of the net for the Cougars' fourth goal of the half.

Romig took his chance with two shots to the middle to begin the second half, but was denied by the keeper. Sipera followed up with a shot at 54:36 that sailed just a little to the left.

Misericordia's fifth goal came off a cross from Macko to Kostik at 66:29. Around four minutes later, Passanti crossed in a ball off a free kick to Pisani, who buried it to the bottom right of the net to make it 6-0.

Eisenhart tried to find the top left of the net at 88:39, but it was halted by the goalie for the Cougars' final shot of the match.

Gwynedd Mercy scored their lone goal at 89:40 to bring the final score to 6-1.

MU finished the match with 16 shots, with 14 of them being on goal.

Misericordia will take on Ithaca at Mangelsdorf Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 6:00.
