Eng Tallies Two Late Goals to Rally MU Hockey

The Misericordia University hockey team won its second straight game and third in eight days with a thrilling 4-3 win over Neumann, Saturday night at the Toyota SportsPlex.

James Eng scored two goals in the last four minutes, including the game-winner on a power play with less than two minutes remaining.

Brendan Vettraino and Corbin Scheibel added goals and Patrick Toomey and Samuel Libetti had two assists.  Toomey added 14 face-off wins.

Mason Jones made 42 saves to earn his third win of the season.

Neumann took a 1-0 lead on a power play goal midway through the first period.

The Cougars tied it with a power play goal early in the second period.

Toomey played a pass along the blue line to Vettraino who squeezed a wrist shot inside the left post at 2:23.

Scheibel gave MU a 2-1 lead at 8:53 of the second with a wrist shot into the top right corner from the left face-off dot.

The Knights tied it less than a minute later and took a 3-2 lead at 10:07 of the third to set up Eng's heroics.

After Eng's shot was saved, Toomey collected the rebound in the left face-off circle and played the puck back to Eng where he stuffed in the game-tying goal at 16:39.

With time winding down on MU's two-man advantage, Libetti found Eng in the slot and he placed a wrist shot under the crossbar for the game-winner at 18:29.
