The Misericordia University women's volleyball team increased its win streak to six straight with a 3-1 victory at Lasell, Thursday.
Cassandra Genduso had a team-high 12 kills while
Jennifer Nicometo had 11 and
Isabella Lutter added 10.
Nicometo added five aces and
Olivia Conza had 34 assists and 11 digs.
Keira McCaffrey had five blocks to go over 300 for her career and
Maggie Duda had four aces, including the 100
th of her career.
Neither team led by more than three points in the opening set and the Cougars pulled even, 14-14, on two kills by
Taylor Marsh and a kill by Nicometo.
Down 23-20, Nicometo and Lutter had kills along with a pair Lasell errors to tie the set, 24-24.
Facing set-point, Genduso and Lutter recorded kills and the Cougars won 27-25 on a Lasell attack error.
Three straight kills by Genduso and Duda's ace gave MU a quick 6-2 lead in the second set. Lasell rallied and eventually built a 23-18 lead.
Nicometo had two aces as the Cougars got within 24-23, but Lasell closed the 25-23 win with a kill.
Misericordia raced out to a quick lead in the third set and held a 16-4 advantage after back-to-back aces from McCaffrey.
Nicometo added two straight aces and the Cougars cruised to a 25-10 win.
MU grabbed another early lead in the fourth set and never looked back.
Duda had two straight aces to cap a 5-0 run and give MU a 5-1 lead.
Nicometo and McCaffrey had kills to key a 5-0 run to stretch the lead to 19-11.
Lasell chipped away to get within 22-18, but Nicometo had two kills down the stretch and Genduso closed the 25-21 win with a kill.
