The Misericordia University men's soccer team defeated Ursinus, 2-1, in a non-league match, Tuesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

In the meantime, the Cougars clinched a berth in the MAC Freedom tournament due to results around the league.

Hayden Dallam and Nolan Keane scored goals for the Cougars while Sam Rolland and Aiden Boyer added assists.

Christian Mazza tallied 11 saves to earn the win.

Misericordia's first shot of the night came from Keane at 6:12, but his header was just wide right.

Misericordia had two dangerous chances in the 19th minute. At 18:34, Kohen Stiles cut back into the middle of the field and shot to force a diving save by the Bears goalkeeper. At 18:46, Noah Romero shot towards the center of the net, but it was also stopped.

At 43:44, Christian Mazza came up with a big diving save on the one-on-one attempt by an Ursinus attacker.

Less than 30 seconds later, the Cougars found the go-ahead goal on the counter attack. Sam Rolland received the ball in the middle of the field, and crossed the ball directly in front of him where Dallam collected the ball and unleashed a shot that skipped into the bottom left corner of the net to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.

The first chance of the second half came at 56:43, when Gunnar Walden's shot was zipped just over the crossbar.

Misericordia doubled their lead at 59:00. The Cougars earned a free kick, where Boyer delivered the perfect cross in front of the net and Keane headed it in to give MU a 2-0 lead.

Ursinus got one goal back at 70:23.

The Bears had a great chance to tie the game at 71:42, but another diving save by Mazza kept the Cougars in front.
