The Misericordia University hockey team fell to Lebanon Valley, 4-1, Friday night at the Toyota SportsPlex.
Brendan Vettraino scored for the Cougars with an assist from Corbin Scheibel.
Patrick Toomey won 13 of his 20 face-off opportunities on the night.
The teams were locked in a defensive battle throughout most of the first two periods with MU's
Antoine Robidoux providing stellar play in net.
The Dutchmen broke through with a power play goal at 17:55 of the second period and followed with another power play goal in the opening minute of the third.
The Cougars answered less than two minutes later when Scheibel played the puck from the right face-off circle to Vettraino in the slot where he fired a wrist shot inside the right post to cut the deficit in half.
Lebanon Valley scored an even-strength goal just over two minutes later to regain a two-goal advantage.
The Cougars went with an extra attacker late in the third period and the Dutchmen added an empty net goal at 19:32.
