The Misericordia University baseball team took both ends of a doubleheader at Delaware Valley, Sunday, to complete the series sweep to open the MAC Freedom schedule.

The Cougars won the opener, 9-5, and took the nightcap, 23-8.

Misericordia jumped out to a 6-1 lead through two innings in the opener and added three insurance runs in the top of the seventh.

Michael Duda had two hits, including a three-run homer, and
Bryant Diaz had two hits and drove in two runs.
Â
John Schmidt worked five innings to earn the win and
Matt Stone and
Zak Lussier combined for five strikeouts over the final two innings.

Bryant Diaz singled in two runs in the top of the first and
Gavin Dillard had a two-run double in the second.Â
Shane Patten doubled in a run and
Owen Daminger added a sac fly to make it 6-1.

Duda blasted a three-run homer down the left field line in the top of the seventh.

Duda had two hits and five RBI in the second game while
Ben St. Pierre,
Owen Daminger and
Owen Cordner all scored four runs as the Cougars took advantage of eight walks and nine hit by pitches.

Lussier picked up the win with 1.1 innings of relief.

MU broke a 7-7 tie with three runs in the fifth and broke the game open with an eight-run sixth.

Duda put the Cougars ahead with a sac fly in the seventh and the Cougars added two more runs on a wild pitch and ground out.

Duda had a two-run single in the sixth and added a two-run double in the seventh.
