The Misericordia University baseball team defeated Manchester (IN), 4-2, Monday, in Fort Pierce, FL.
Vin Proietto had two hits with a run scored and an RBI while Michael Duda added two hits and scored a run.
Jase Seltzer earned his second victory of the season, pitching seven innings and striking out six. Alex Polombo struck out three over two innings to earn the save.
Manchester put up the first two runs of the game in the top of the first inning, but were held scoreless the rest of the way.
Misericordia answered with three runs in the bottom of the third.
Duda started the inning by ripping a double down the left field line, was advanced to third on a single by Drew Van Horn, and scored on an error that allowed Owen Daminger to reach first base.
Shane Patten tied the game with an RBI-groundout and another Manchester miscue allowed Gavin Dillard to reach, giving the Cougars a 3-2 advantage after three innings.
The Cougars added an insurance run in the sixth. Dillard reached on an error and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt before Proietto lined a single down the left field line to extend the Cougars lead to 4-2.
Seltzer settled in after the first inning with six scoreless innings before giving way to Polombo in the eighth.
