The Misericordia University softball team moved into a tie for first place in the MAC Freedom with a sweep of King's, Tuesday at Tambur Field.
The Cougars won 4-1 and 13-5 in six innings to improve to 19-9 overall and 8-2 in league play.
Casey Funesti had a double and a homer and drove in two runs in the opener and
Gabby Cruz didn't allow an earned run over seven innings.
The Cougars scored all the runs they would need as they took advantage of three wild pitches to three runs in the bottom of the first.
Bridget Doherty led off with a bunt single and
Kiersten Tinio was hit by a pitch. Both runners moved up on a wild pitch and
Mackenzie Fizer hit a sacrifice fly down the left field line.
Funesti doubled into the right field corner to drive in a run and scored on two wild pitches to make it 3-0.
MU added an insurance run when Funesti homered to left field to lead off the third inning.
Fizer had four hits in game two and Funesti had three hits and four RBI.
Alicia Moran added three hits.
After King's took a 1-0 in the top of the first, the Cougars went in front with three runs in the bottom half.
Funesti hit  a bases-double to put the Cougars in front and
Gianna Russo made a 3-1 with an RBI-ground out.
King's went in front, 5-4, in the fourth, but MU answered with five in the bottom of the inning.
Doherty walked and Tinio was hit by pitch before Fizer's infield single loaded the bases. Funesti singled through the left side and Russo's sac fly made it 6-5.Â
Gianna Foreman singled in a run and another
scored on an error for an 8-5 lead. Moran capped the rally with a sac fly to center.
Fizer and Funesti both singled in runs in the fifth and
Kaliana Auchey and Tinio drove in runs in the sixth to end the game.
