The Misericordia University softball team clinched at least second place in the MAC Freedom while giving head coach
Chris Blum his 100
th career win with a 5-1, 3-1 sweep at Lebanon Valley, Saturday.

Gianna Russo had two hits, including a two-run homer, in the opener, and
Kiersten Tinio and
Alicia Moran added two hits each.

Gabby Cruz held the Dutchmen to three hits and just one unearned run.

The Cougars scored all their runs in the top of the first in game two thanks to extra-base hits by Tinio and
Mackenzie Fizer.

Juleigh Bowmaster earned the win with four shutout innings of relief.
Â
In the opener, the Cougars took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Tinio singled with one out and later scored on Russo's two-out single to left.

MU added two more two-out runs in the second on back-to-back RBI-singles by Tinio and Fizer.

Casey Funesti walked with one out in the fifth and Russo followed with a two-run homer to right to extend the lead to 5-0.

Leb Val got a run back in the bottom of the fifth, but Cruz retired the final seven batters she faced.

Bridget Doherty led off game two with an infield single and went to third on Tinio's double to center. Fizer's opposite-field triple drove in two runs and Funesti's RBI-ground out made it 3-0.

Lebanon Valley got on the board in the third, but Bowmaster held them scoreless over the final four innings.
