MU Softball Splits at PSU-Harrisburg

The Misericordia University softball team split a doubleheader at Penn State Harrisburg, Friday.

The Cougars dropped the opener, 7-1, but took the nightcap, 6-4.

Casey Funesti had two hits in the opener and Stephanie Barone had an RBI-single in the sixth inning.

The Cougars scored twice in each of the first two innings in game two and never trailed.

Kiersten Tinio had three hits, including a pair of triples, and scored three runs and Funesti had two doubles and two RBI.

Bridget Doherty added an RBI-double and Jennifer Milisits worked four innings of relief to earn the win.

Tinio singled up the middle with one out in the top of the first and came all the way around on Funesti's opposite-field double.  Alicia Moran reached on an infield single to drive in a run and make it 2-0.

Emmalee Mowery led off the second inning with a single to right and advanced when Mikayla Sasuk walked.  After a sacrifice bunt, Doherty doubled down the left field line to give MU a 4-1 lead.

Tinio tripled with two outs in the fourth and scored on Funesti's second double of the game to make it 5-1.

After the Lions got within 5-4, Tinio led off the seventh with her second triple of the game.  Gianna Foreman brought her home with a sac fly to center to give the Cougars a 6-4 lead.
