The Misericordia University softball team swept Scranton, Thursday on Anderson Field.
The Cougars won 6-0, 10-2 (6 inn) for their eight consecutive win.
Gabby Cruz and
Morgan Kelly combined on a two-hitter in the opener and the Cougars provided all the needed support in the first inning.
Kiersten Tinio and
Casey Funesti had two hits and
Rylie Nasso drove in a pair of runs in the opener.
After allowing a lead-off single, Cruz held the Royals hitless over the next four innings.
Nasso's two-out double to left center gave the Cougars the lead in the bottom of the first inning of the opener.
Alicia Moran reached on an error which allowed two more runs to score.
MU added two runs in the fifth on Doherty's opposite-field triple and Tinio's double to the wall in center field.
Tinio had three hits and two RBI in the nightcap and
Mackenzie Fizer had two hits and three RBI.
Funesti and Moran had two hits each.
Jennifer Millisits worked three shutout innings to get the win in game two.
The Cougars scored in all but one inning.
Funesti drove in a run on an infield single in the bottom of first and Tinio drove in a run in the second.
Fizer and Tinio had RBI-singles to make it 6-0 in the third and
Edna Kiefer and Russo hit back-to-back doubles to make it 9-2 in the sixth.
Doherty singled in the winning run in the sixth.
