Misericordia University Athletics

The Misericordia University baseball season ended with an 8-4 loss at DeSales in game two of the MAC Freedom Championship series, Saturday.
 
Brooks Kanwisher, Gavin Dillard and Joe Peters all had two hits as the Cougars out-hit the Bulldogs, 12-8.
 
DeSales took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but MU pulled even with a run in each of its next two at bats.
 
Shane Patten led off the top of the second with a single to right center.  Following a walk to Owen Daminger, Peters singled to center field to load the bases with no outs.  Owen Cordner lined a sacrifice fly to center, but DeSales escaped further damage to hold a 2-1 lead.
 
Misericordia tied it in the third.  Vin Proietto singled to left and moved up on a sacrifice bunt and Dillard's infield single.  Patten flew out to left to drive in the tying run.
 
After DeSales plated three runs in the bottom of the third, the Cougars got two back in the fourth.  Peters doubled into the left field corner to start the inning and moved up on Cordner's single to center.  Drew Van Horn reached on an error to drive in a run and Proietto followed with another sacrifice fly to bring the Cougars within 5-4.
 
The Cougars had at least one base runner in each of the last five innings but were unable to produce another run.
 
Misericordia ended the season at 28-17.
