The Misericordia University men's soccer team opened the season with a 1-0 win over Susquehanna, Tuesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.

Noah Romig scored the game-winner midway through the first half on an assist from

Christian Mazza made six saves in goal to post the shutout.

The Cougars carried most of the play throughout the first half and took the lead midway through the half.

Romig nearly gave MU the lead in the 11
th minute when he received a ball in the middle of the box, but his one-timer was denied as the Susquehanna keeper came off his line to make the save.

Brackett found Romig on the left post on a corner kick 13 minutes later and he headed hit home to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.

Mazza made five of his six saves in the second half to preserve the shutout.

Susquehanna threatened early in the second half with a ball over the top of the MU defense, but Mazza came well of his line to deflect the shot wide right.

Mazza came up big again with a stop on a point-blank shot near the right post off a Crusaders throw-in in the 82
nd minute.

Mazza's final stop of the night came in the 84
th minute when he deflected a long-range strike over the crossbar.
