The #20 nationally-ranked Misericordia University women's team beat Susquehanna, 2-0, in the completion of their season opener which was suspended due to weather two weeks ago.
Saydi Renzo and
Julia Hayward scored for the Cougars while
Caelan Gallagher and
Alyssa Steenback added assists.
Marisa Patrissi made three saves to earn the shutout.
Renzo scored her first career goal on opening night before the game was halted by weather. Gallagher played a lofted ball from the top right corner of the box and Renzo headed it home at the left post at 3:58.
Action resumed this evening in the 15th minute and the Cougars carried their 1-0 lead into halftime.
MU added an insurance goal midway the second half when Steenback won a ball near midfield and played a diagonal pass to a wide-open Hayward on the right flank. She took two touches to the top of the box and rolled a shot across the box inside the post for a 2-0 lead at 65:25.
Patrissi came off her line to win the ball near the top of the box to thwart Susquehanna's most dangerous opportunity early in the second half.
