The Misericordia University women's soccer team defeated Eastern, 2-0, Wednesday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
Larissa Evans and
Jyanna Mendola scored for the Cougars and
Julia Hayward added an assist.
Evans recorded Misericordia's first shot in the third minute, but the attempt was saved by the Eastern goalkeeper.
Hayward found Evans all by herself in front and Evans tapped the ball into the net at 6:08 to give the Cougars an early lead.
Misericordia continued to pressure the Eagles with
Ella Cipriani,
Addysen Fitzgerald and
Alyssa Steenback all recording shots over the next 15 minutes.
The Cougars finished the first half with 16 shots and took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Misericordia kept the pressure on early in the second half, recording five shots in the opening 10 minutes.
Patrissi came up with a key save at 77:01, tipping an Eastern shot off the crossbar and recovering the rebound before the Eagles could get a second chance.
Misericordia put the game away just under two minutes later as a deflection found Mendola, who split two defenders and curled a shot into the right side netting to extend the Cougars lead to 2-0 at 78:34.
