Misericordia University Athletics

The Misericordia University women's soccer team dropped a tough 1-0 decision to No. 9 Messiah, Saturday afternoon at Mangelsdorf Field.
 
The first half was a defensive battle as neither team was able to generate clean looks at the goal.
 
Misericordia got a few looks as Kaleigh Horos missed wide right in the 10th minute. Ella Cipriani and Larissa Evans also had opportunities, but both shots were blocked.
 
At 29:20, Messiah put a shot on net, but it was stopped low by Patrissi.
 
Evans looked to give the Cougars the lead heading into halftime as she came across the middle and sent one through, but the Falcons' goalkeeper made the save.
 
Julia Hayward opened the second half by going on the offensive, but her shot her shot in the 49^th minute was blocked.
 
Messiah scored the only goal of the game in the 55^th minute.
 
Patrissi made a diving save in a one-on-one situation in the 62^nd minute.
 
Hayward had an opportunity for the potential tying goal in the 88^th minute, but her shot was smothered by the Falcons' goalkeeper.
