Misericordia University Athletics

The Misericordia University field hockey team earned its third straight victory with a 5-0 win over Gwynedd Mercy, Monday night at Mangelsdorf Field.
 
Delaney Miller scored two goals while Madison Blauch, Celeste Hoffman and Alisyn Green had a goal each as the Cougars improved to 3-3.
 
The MU defense didn't allow a shot while limiting the Griffins to just one penalty corner.
 
Miller took a pass from Ashleigh Steele across the top of the circle, dribbled around a defender and blasted a shot inside the left post to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead with less than four minutes remaining in the first quarter.
 
The Cougars added to their lead with a pair of goals in a three-minute span early in the third period.
 
Madison Lasinski's blast from the right flank was tipped home by Celeste Hoffman to make it 2-0 less than two minutes into the second half.
 
Lasinski ripped a shot from the same spot less than three minutes later that was deflected in the air by Hoffman and tapped inside the left post by Blauch for a 3-0 lead at 34:19.
 
Miller dribbled through traffic in the circle and place a reverse-stick shot inside the right post to put MU up 4-0 just over five minutes into the fourth quarter.
 
The Cougars closed out the scoring with just over two minutes to play.  Ava Cirigliano ripped a shot from the top of the circle.  Green gathered the rebound and slotted it to the left post.
