The Misericordia University men's soccer team lost at Widener, 3-0, Saturday afternoon.
The Pride scored all three of its goals in a 25-minute span in the first half.
Misericordia's offense applied pressure early as
Noah Romero got the ball in the middle and fired a shot on target forcing the goalie to make a low save just over a minute into the game.
In the ninth minute, MU had another opportunity as a free kick found its way to
Shane Macko at the right post, but his left-footed shot was denied.
Trailing 1-0, the Cougars defense was called upon again late in the first half as
Santino Jannotte made a diving save on a Widener free kick from the right flank.
Misericordia's offense attempted to capitalize as
Anthony Numssen who turned and fired from deep in the left corner, but his shot was saved by the Pride goalie.
In the second half, Macko beat a defender for a loose ball and had a one-on-one opportunity with the goalie, but his shot from outside the box was kicked away by the keeper.
MU had one last opportunity to get on the board in the 87th minute, but
Dominic Paolini's shot from the middle banged off the right post.
