2011: Team captain... MVP of the Freedom Conference championships... All-Freedom and first-team All-Region selection... Graduated as the school's all-time leader in every power hitting category after batting .340 with 36 RBIs, 10 HRs and 46 runs scored as a senior... Also dominated on the mound, going 4-1 with an ERA of 0.50 (a new school record) and ending the season on a 31-inning shutout streak... Went 2-for-3 with a homer and 4 runs scored vs. La Roche (3/7)... Missed both a no-hitter and hitting for the cycle by a single in the same game, as he won his first career start with a one-hitter over Delaware Valley while contributing a double, triple and HR from the plate (4/27)... Homered and scored 4 times in a Freedom playoff victory over King's (5/6)... Homered again and threw 9 shutout innings in a playoff win over DeSales (5/8)... Threw 5 shutout innings to beat Rutgers-Newark (5/13)... Threw a complete-game shutout and tripled in an NCAA tournament win over Catholic (5/19).
2010: Selected as Team MVP… Chosen as first team All-Freedom… Started all 39 games… Batted .353 with 47 RBIs, 43 runs scored and a league-leading 13 home runs… Also stole a team-high 15 bases… Threw 1.1 no-hit innings and earned two saves on the mound… Set school single-season and career (22) home run records… Also set the school record for career stolen bases (51)… Graduates in the career top-10 lists for at-bats, hits, doubles, triples, total bases, runs, RBIs, batting average, slugging percentage, hit by pitches and assists… Went 6-for-8 with 4 RBIs and 2 home runs in a doubleheader with Mt. Aloysius (2/28)… Hit 2-for-4 with a home run, 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored at Penn State-Berks (3/23)… Went 2-for-2 with a homer and 3 runs scored against Wilkes (4/5)… Was 3-for-8 with a home run, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored at Scranton (4/7)… Added home runs against Marywood (4/19) and Baptist Bible (4/21)… Was 2-for-4 with a homer, 4 RBIs and 2 runs scored against Moravian (4/28)… Hit 2-for-4 with a home run, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored (4/30).
2009: Earned the Team Coach's Award… Selected as First Team All-Freedom… Led team in homeruns (9) and RBIs (47)… Also was second in batting average (.414)… Set school single season records in games played (42), homeruns, total bases (110) and RBIs (47)… Had a slugging percentage of .679… Went 2-for-3 and homered against Shenandoah (2/14)… Batted 5-for-6 with two home runs, 6 RBIs and 5 runs scored against Ohio Northern (3/4)… Hit 4-for-6 and stole 4 bases against Widener (3/15)… Was 2-for-5 with 3 RBIs against Swarthmore (3/22)… Hit 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base against King’s (4/2)… Batted 3-for-4 with two runs scored against Delaware Valley (4/5)… Finished 3-for-5 with 4 RBIs and a home run against Scranton (4/8)… Hit 3-for-4, scored three runs, homered and batted in 5 runs against King’s (4/13)… Went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs scored, a home run and a stolen base versus Moravian (4/16)… Homered and batted 3-for-4 with two RBIs against FDU-Florham (4/18)… Went 2-for-2 with a home run, two RBIs and 4 runs scored against Eastern (4/21)… Scored five times against Eastern (4/24)… Hit 5-for-6 with a home run, 3 RBIs, 4 runs scored, and two stolen bases against Manhattanville (4/25).
2008: Second Team All-PAC selection… Set a single-season school record in games played with 42… Second on the team in doubles with 11… Led team with 12 stolen bases… Batted .299 with 24 RBIs and 27 runs scored… Scored three times against WPI (3/6)… Batted 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs versus Heidelberg (3/8)… Hit 3-for-4 against Muhlenberg (3/12)… Went 3-for-5 with 3 RBIs, a run scored and a stolen base against Eastern (3/28)… The day against Eastern, was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored (3/29)… Notched 3 RBIs, two runs scored and stolen base on Keystone (4/16).
Personal: Nate is the son of Rick and Wendy Newman. He is majoring in Elementary Education.
