Pete Egbert

Pete Egbert is in his 19th year as the head baseball coach at Misericordia University and his 24th as a head coach at the college level. 
 
Egbert guided the Cougars to the first national title in school history in 2024, as MU defeated Wisconsin-Whitewater in the championship series to win the D-III World Series.  

Misericordia finished the 2024 season ranked first with a 44-11 record. The Cougars won three straight games in the Dallas Regional to advance to the Super Regional in Newport News.  

From there, MU swept a three-game series with Christopher Newport to make the third World Series appearance in program history. 
  
Misericordia paved their way to the championship series by taking down Pomona-Pitzer, Endicott and Lynchburg. 

He led Misericordia to its second NCAA D-III World Series appearance in 2023.  MU finished 40-15 and won the NCAA Regional and Super Regional titles along with top-eight rankings in two national polls. 
 
In 24 seasons as a head coach, including five at Fitchburg State (MA), Egbert has been named conference Coach of the Year seven times and ECAC Coach of the Year once.  He has been honored as the ABCA Regional Coach of the Year twice. In 2024, he won the ABCA and D3baseball.com Coach of the Year awards. 
 
His owns a career record of 626-346-2, including a 535-259-2 record and .673 winning percentage at Misericordia. 
 
The Cougars won 10 consecutive MAC Freedom titles (2011-21) and recorded 10 straight 30-win seasons from 2011-2021.  The Cougars also advanced to the D-III World Series in 2018. 
 
Egbert earned his bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Missouri and holds a master’s degree in athletics administration from Springfield College.
