Biography

2009: Set an NCAA D-III single-game record with eight hits at Polytechnic. Named team MVP for the second straight year. First Team All-Freedom selection. Led team in batting average (.436), at-bats (163), hits (71), walks (32) and stolen bases (30). Started all 40 games at third base. Set school single season records in hits, triples (7), runs (60) and stolen bases. Set career records in stolen bases (45), walks (91) and triples (12).


2008: Led team in batting average with .416, Led team in hits with 62 and tied for lead in stolen bases with 12. First Team All-PAC. ABCA/Rawlings Mid-Atlantic All-Region Third Team. Named Team MVP. Set a school single-season record for games played with 42, hits with 61, walks with 42 and tied record for runs scored with 44.

2007: Appeared in 12 games as pitcher leading the team with a 4.70 ERA in 23 innings pitched.

2006: Started 23 of 26 games in which he played.  Led the team with 16 walks.

Personal: Michael is the son of Kenneth and Kristine Murphy.  He is majoring in Sport Management.
