Mat Faas

Mat Faas is in his third year as the head women’s lacrosse coach at Misericordia University.

Faas led the Cougars to a record-breaking season in his first year in 2019.

The Cougars set a school single-season record with 15 victories and captured their first MAC Freedom championship.  Misericordia added a first-round victory in its first NCAA Tournament appearance.

Prior to Misericordia, Faas spent 16 years coaching at all levels.  Most recently, he was an assistant coach at RIT where he was involved in all facets of the program, especially the offense and team skill development.

Faas also served as an assistant coach at the University of Delaware where he oversaw the offense and worked with the goalies.  He spent three seasons as an assistant coach at Limestone College and helped lead the team to the NCAA quarterfinals and two NCAA semifinal appearances.

Faas began his collegiate coaching career in 2006 as an assistant coach at St. Bonaventure where he was in charge of the defense, helping the Bonnies to the conference championship tournament.

In 2007, he gained international coaching experience while leading the U-19 Haudenosaunee National Team at the 2007 U-19 Women’s Lacrosse World Cup.  

Throughout his coaching career, he has mentored multiple Scholar-Athletes of the Year, All-Conference, Conference Player of the Year and All-American players.
                                                                                                                                  
In addition, Faas has extensive experience with youth lacrosse camps, clinics and training sessions.
