Despite controlling the play and dominating the statistics, the Misericordia University field hockey dropped a 3-2 overtime decision at Elmira, Wednesday.
The Cougars had a commanding 38-8 advantage in shots and held a 20-7 edge in corners, but Elmira scored with 10 minutes remaining in regulation and talllied the game-winner 9:45 into the extra session.
Trailing 1-0 at halftime,
Shannon Elqorchi scored less than a minute into the second period.
Laura Leighow put MU ahead 2-1 with an assist from
Haley Ellis midway throught the period, but the Cougars were held scoreless the rest of the way.
Misericordia, 8-4, will host Alvernia in a Freedom Conference game, Saturday at 1:00 at Mangelsdorf Field.
