The Misericordia University won the opening game of a three-game series with Gwynedd-Mercy, 9-7, Friday.

Kevin Gilmore worked five innings for the win and Cody Hack went four innings of shutout relief to notch the save.

Mike Murphy had three hits, including a double, and set a new school single-season record with 57 hits.

Mike D'Amara, Nate Newman and Brian Matthews all had two hits as the Cougars improved to 7-7 in the PAC.
