The Misericordia University baseball team ended the regular season with a doubleheader split at Marywood, Tuesday.
After taking the opener, 1-0, the Cougars dropped the nightcap, 4-3, in eight innings.
In game one,
Brandon Calafut led off the seventh inning with a triple and came home on
Jamie Phillipi's game-winning single.
Winning pitcher
Keith Davison worked two shutout innings in relief and combined with
Steve Peet on a four-hitter.
In the nightcap,
Nate Newman led the MU offense with a double and two RBI while Davison,
Kevin Della Rosa, Murphy and
Kevin Gilmore combined on a six-hitter.
Marywood tied the game with a homer in the bottom of the seventh before winning it in extra innings.
Misericordia (15-24-1, 9-9 PAC) will face top-seeded Alvernia in the opening round of the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference playoffs, Friday at 7:00 p.m. at Bear Stadium in Boyertown, PA.
